6-Day Alpamayo Trek In Cordillera Blanca
Description
Alpamayo mountain has been considered the "Most Beautiful Mountain in the World" owing to its great beauty, flouted icefall on the south-west face & perfect pyramidal shape on the north side in Jancarurish valley. Nowadays the preferred route to climb the mountain is located in Santa Cruz valley on the west wall on the direct Francesa route. This route requires a lot of knowledge, good physical shape and polished technique to conquer the peak.

Day 1- Huaraz - Caraz - Cashapampa - Llama Coral expand_more
Huaraz (3100m) – Caraz (2200m) - Cashapampa (2970m) – Llama coral (3760m).
(Driving time: 3 hours/trek time: 4 hours walk up)Departure from Huaraz at 7:00 am, along Callejón de Huaylas until Caraz.
Drive on a dirt road until Cashapampa village at 2900 m and meet with our donkey drivers there.
From this village, the climbing gears will be transported by donkeys to the Llamacoral campsite.
Overnight camp at Llamacoral.

Day 2- Llama Coral - Basecamp expand_more
Llama Coral at (3760m) - Alpamayo basecamp (4330m)
(Trek time: 5 hours (walk up)After breakfast at 8:00 am, walk up along Quebrada Santa Cruz. On the way, pass by two beautiful glacier lakes until Quisuar.
Trek through several switchbacks to Base Camp at 4300m.
Overnight at Alpamayo base camp.

Day 3- Moraine - High Camp expand_more
Alpamayo base camp (4300m) - Moraine Camp (4900m) - Alpamayo high Camp (5400m).
(Climbing time: 8 hours (ascent).Start walking up the steep path with the porters' help and reach Moraine camp at 4900m.
Put on the climbing gear and tools; walk up towards high camp over the glacier with porters' help.
The high camp is located on the high pass between Alpamayo and Quitaraju. In the afternoon, enjoy the gorgeous west wall of mount Alpamayo with a spectacular sunset.

Day 4- High Camp - Summit - High Camp expand_more
Alpamayo high Camp (5400m) - Alpamayo summit (5947m) – High Camp (5400m).
(Climbing time: 14 hours (ascent & descent).Rise early at 1:00 am and cross the glacier between camp and the bergschrund at the base of the Southwest Face.
Climbing up the huge flouted ice wall o Directa Frances route with 500m of the ice wall, with 60° - 70° pitches.
Reach the top, and have the most spectacular view of glacier lakes, several snow-capped peaks around us, like Huandoy, Pisco, Santa Cruz, Artesonraju, Pirámide Garcilazo, group Pucajircas, Taulliraju and Huascaran mountains.
Descend on the same route with rappels until High Camp.
Overnight at Alpamayo high camp.

Day 5- High Camp - Base Camp expand_more
Alpamayo high Camp (5400m) – Alpamayo Base Camp (4300m).
(Climbing time: 6 hours (descent).Descend with two rappels, then retrace towards the Base Camp.
Overnight at base camp Alpamayo.

Day 6- Base Camp - Cashapampa - Huaraz expand_more
Alpamayo base camp (4300m) – Cashapampa at (2970m) – Huaraz.
(Trek time: 7 hours (walk down).Hike down to the Santa Cruz valley, until Cashapampa village at 2970m, where private transport will be waiting to drive back to Huaraz.
