The major temple is strictly for Hindus only; even though you are not allowed to go inside the main temple, you can clearly see the temple and the activities from the other banks of the river.
    • Boudhanath Stupa: Another UNESCO World Heritage site, Boudhanath is another of the holiest sites of Kathmandu Valley. It was built in the 5th century with pairs of eyes in all 4 directions, keeping an eternal watch over the people and their doings.

Know before you go

Overview:

  • Manaslu (8,163 m/26,781 ft), also known as Kutang, is the eighth-highest mountain in the world. It is located in the Mansiri Himalayan Range in the west-central part of Nepal. Its name, which means "mountain of the spirit", comes from the Sanskrit word Manasa, meaning "intellect" or "soul".
  • The trek takes you around Manaslu, the world's eighth-highest mountain at 8,163 meters. The Manaslu Reason is one of Nepal's “Best Kept Secret” trekking areas. It is far less crowded than other well-known peers, Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit. There are still about 10 times fewer trekkers on the Manaslu Trail.
  • The trek is wild and remote. The first part of the trail follows the Budi Gandaki, a deep, long river gorge with many suspension bridges. As we go higher, we will experience the culture of the Gurung people living on the lap of the Himalayas. Manaslu has a lot to offer to the trekkers, from the beautiful scenery of the majestic Himalayan Ranges and high altitude glassier lakes to rich biological and cultural diversity as we trek from the subtropical jungle at lower elevations through the Himalayan foothills to the high, cold and challenging crossing of the Larkya La at an elevation of 5,106m/16,752 ft. The highest point reached along the trek route is widely believed to be one of the most dramatic passes crossing the Himalayas.
  • Our suggested itinerary, starting from Kathmandu and ending at Kathmandu for 12 days, offers most of the great things this trek has to offer to the trekkers. If you have enough time and want to explore Manaslu more, you should consider a 21-day trek.
