Description

It’s not hard to find heritage buildings in Malaysia. Wander down the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur, and you’ll find them in 2 conditions – converted into cafes with old-school aesthetics or left unrenovated in a time warp. But rarely do we see a town of abandoned heritage buildings that looks straight out of a post-apocalyptic film. A row of abandoned heritage buildings in Papan in Perak was so tiny that it only had a single street. But that’s not all – a historic clinic owned by a Malayan nurse there and even a mansion that is reportedly haunted in the vicinity.

Highlights
  • Wander around this heritage town, seeing hundred-year-old tree roots and old town building
  • Day Tour expand_more

    • The first stop at the Guan Yin temple was believed to be constructed in 1947. Stop at the small restaurant that runs by an old couple. The Papan town is not entirely deserted, as its small number of elderly townsfolk still populate the area and its surrounding village.
    • Walking will start here, proceed to the Raja Bilah Palace, and wander around the old buildings.
    • Then we will walk thru the small lane and check out the little history of this town. You can see how the tree and root conquer the walls and bricks.
