  • Day 1: Nouakchott - Atar expand_more
    • Departure at 8:00 am and drive (about 470 km) from Nouakchott (capital of Mauritania) to Atar.
    • Arrive at Akjoujt for a short tea break after crossing around 250 km to Atar.
    • After arrival at Atar, have lunch at a restaurant followed by a quick visit to Azougui at 5 pm. Azougui is a town in north-western Mauritania, lying on the Adrar Plateau. In the eleventh century, it was a base for the Almoravid dynasty.
      Check-in at the hotel in Atar.

    Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 2: Ouadane expand_more
    • Drive 200 km towards Ouadane with your Mauritanian tour guide and driver. Ouadane is a small town in Central Mauritania renowned for palm groves, libraries and mosques.
    • Stop to see cave paintings before arriving at the city of Ouadane.
    • Observe the old houses and mosques before seeing the famous 'Eye of the Sahara' or Richat structure. Richat Structure is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara's Adrar Plateau, near Ouadane, which is known to have formed mysteriously. It is the lost Atlantis.

    Overnight and dinner at the hotel.
    Meals: Lunch & Dinner.

  • Day 3: Chinguetti expand_more
    • Drive on the dunes, which lead to Chinguetti, a medieval trading centre in Northern Mauritania.
    • Have a quick stop at Tenewechert for tea and to see the different animals of the desert.
    • Visit the Friday Mosque and library and enjoy the sunset near the dunes.

    Have dinner and stay the night at the hotel.

  • Day 4: Chinguitti - Terjit expand_more
    • Check out of the hotel and drive from Chinguitti to Terjit, an oasis in the Sahara Desert.
    • Explore the beauty of the palm trees in the mountain areas of Terjit and then drive straight to Nouakchott for departure.

  • When viewed from above, the Eye of the Sahara looks just like an enormous impact crater sitting in the middle of the Sahara Desert of Mauritania. Stretching 50 kilometres (30 miles) in diameter, comprised of a series of uniform ripples, this crater-esque anomaly is in fact entirely terrestrial.
