Take in the wonderful views of Kibo, Mount Meru and Mawenzi mountain. Cross lush rainforests, desert-like alpine zones and isolated moorlands on this popular hiking route starting from Moshi and ending at Uhuru Peak.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport - Moshi expand_more
Get picked up from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro.
The guide will provide a short briefing about the tour and the equipment required for the trek.
Overnight in Moshi.

Day 2: Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut expand_more
After breakfast, go for a 45-minute drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate.
Upon arrival, register with the park authorities and start the trek to the Mandara encampment.
Pass through a thick rainforest zone, where you might encounter rain.
Spend the night at Mandara Hut (2,750m).

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut expand_more
Continue the ascent through the forest for a short time before reaching the heather and moorland zone at roughly 3,000m.
Upon arrival, enjoy stunning views of the mountain peaks at this altitude. Spend the night at Horombo Hut (3,720m), which lies in a valley surrounded by giant lobelia flowers.

Day 4: Horombo Hut expand_more
Spend an extra day at Horombo for acclimatisation purposes.
Hike to Mawenzi Ridge or Zebra Rock for high-altitude practice and then return to Horombo hut for lunch.
Overnight stay in Horombo.

Day 5: Kibo Hut expand_more
Continue the trek past the final watering point and ascends onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro, between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.
Observe how the vegetation thins out as we enter the desert-like alpine zone (approximately 4,000m). Cross the saddle and notice the snow-laden Kibo Peak.
Reach Kibo Hut and spend the rest of the day leisurely.
Wake up around midnight and prepare for the final hike to the summit.

Day 6: Summit the Uhuru Peak expand_more
Shortly after midnight, commence the climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro. An early start increases the chances of reaching the summit in time for sunrise.
Walk for around four hours and reach Gilman's Point. Continue walking for two hours along the crater's edge to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. From the summit, it is a downhill trek to Horombo Hut.
Spend the last night amidst the mountains.

Day 7: Descent to Marangu Gate - Moshi expand_more
- After breakfast, continue the descent through the moorland to Mandara Huts.
- Stop for lunch and then proceed through the lush forests to Marangu Gate.
- Later, drive back to Moshi.
