Climb up to Lenana Point, one of the highest peaks on Mount Kenya, starting from Naru Moru town. The Lenana summit point is at an altitude of 4,985 m and offers breathtaking mountain scenery and scenic splendour. Climb up the peaks of glory in just four days!

  • Day 1: Naru Moru to Met Station expand_more

    • Pick from Nairobi Airport and drive to Narumoru town in Nyeri County, towards the Naru Moru park gate. Here, you will make the entrance fees to proceed further.

    • Then, continue with a 9.5 km trek to the Met Station Hut.

    • You will have lunch here and then rest for climatisation.

    • Dinner and overnight stay at Met Station Hut.

  • Day 2: Met Station to Mackinders Camp expand_more
    • After breakfast, you will make preparations for a whole-day walk through the steep terrain of the Naro Moru route to reach Mackinders camp. It can be about 12.5 km of walking and climbing.
    • Between the journey, you will break for rest, snacks and lunch. Here, you will cross the Naro Moru River.
    • Overnight stay at Mackinders camp (4,200 m).
  • Day 3: Summiting to Point Lenana expand_more
    • Wake up at around 03:30 hrs, have a cup of coffee before making preparations for rest of the day's hike.
    • Begin with a steep hike in the mountain areas until you reach the summit of Point Lenana (4,985 m). Today's hike can take about 3 hours. When you reach the top, revel in the beautiful sunrise views.
    • After sightseeing, descend the mountain and return to camp for breakfast, rest, and a late afternoon nature walk.
    • Overnight stay will be at Mackinders camp itself.
  • Day 4: Mackinders Camp to Met Station expand_more

    • After your morning breakfast, prepare to move out of Mackinders camp and proceed to the Met Station at around 09:00 hrs.

    • You will sleep at Met Station Hut. The following day, you can check out of this area through the Naru Moru gate and drive back to Nairobi to end the tour.

Know before you go

  • This trip is a 4-day trekking and hiking tour to Mt. Kenya peaks upto the summit of point Lenana (4,985 alt). Through the Naru Moru or Sirimon route, the entrance fees are the same at both gates. The Naru Moru route is about 24 km, while the Sirimon route is about 27 km. The Naru Moru route is steeper than the Sirimon route, which is gentle. Both routes have two camping stations before summiting at Lenana Point. The Naru Moru route also has an extra stop - Austrian Hut - which can be used by those intending to go rock climbing at Nelion or Batian peaks. 

  • The price is the same for both routes - Naru Moru and Sirimon.
