9:30: Pick-up from Pianabella di Montelibretti, the nearest railway station to Palombara Sabina which is located 35 kilometres from Rome.

Explore the ruins of the castle called "Castiglione", which dates back to the 13th century and stands amidst the stunning landscape of the Natural Park of the Lucretili Mountain (Parco Regionale Naturale Dei Monti Lucreitili). Spend an hour and a half here.

Visit the abandoned town of Stazzano, rendered such as the result of an earthquake. Spend an hour here and admire the medieval fortress, narrow streets, houses and the church with a breathtaking view over the landscape.

13:30: Head out to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and partake in a tasting of olive oil and derivates products such as olive paté, olives, sweet spreads as pistachios and chocolate).

16:00: Make your way to the Savelli Castle, the iconic symbol of Palombara Sabina. Stroll around in the garden, the wonderful renaissance fresco-ed rooms, and the “Muro del Soccorso”. (In case of rain, we can visit the Abbey of Saint John in Argentella instead. This is a wonderful church dating back to the 8th century and sports a romantic facade and interior. It has been nominated as a National Monument). 

18:30: Transfer back to the railway station.
