Full-Day Hike In Pantalica - A UNESCO World Heritage Natural Park
Description
Pantalica is the largest rupestral necropolis in Europe, the perfect place to visit if you love long walks among blackbirds’ whistling if you want to hear the sound of rushing water and feel the wind blowing through the trees. In Pantalica, you will be completely surrounded by history and archaeology. Together with Syracuse, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will hike across two canyons (called ‘caves‘) shaped over the centuries by the two rivers flowing through them: the Anapo and the Calcinara Rivers. Marvel at the thousands of tombs dug in the flanks of the mountains, dating back to the late bronze age.
