Loved the archeogy background

Reviewed September 30, 2018

Dimitreous is a great guide and wonderful person. He has archeology PhD. This was fun to hear his experience as we viewed the  Acropolis. We learned how things were made. I highly recommend him. I would also have liked more about the history of the times of Paul the apostle while there but we did not get to Mars Hill to discuss although close by. This was the only reason for th4 instead of the 5.

Dimitris Sotirakis 's response to the review

Thank you for your review David. However the reason that we did not go to the Areios Pagos where St. Paul preached was only due to the rain. "Pagos" in Ancient Greek language means rock. This is what really is. A rock that has been curved in places. Just before we met I visited the place and it was More

extremely slippery due to the rain and its polished nature. I showed it to you from Akropolis. It was at an opposite direction to the ancient way we took (ancient "peripatos") towards Dionysus theatre and the museum. If we had decided to go it meant another half an hour in a dangerous terrain under heavy rain. In the coffee brake of the museum I told all it is known about St. Paul in Athens and in Corinth. His misfortunes in northern Greece and his first followers in Athens, whose Dionysios the president of the court of Areios Pagos became the first bishop of the new religion in Athens. This is all we know. Thanks once more. Less

A wonderful guide for your trip in Greece

Reviewed September 19, 2018

My husband and I had the privilege of having Dimitris Sotirakis as our guide for Mycenenae and Tiryns.   He is an archaeologist, a historian, a mountain guide, but most of all he is a wonderful person who is knowledgeable, accomodating and friendly.   He drove a Skoda Octavia 4 x 4 turbo, picked us up at our Airbnb apartment, and drove us around to the sights.

Email communication prior to the trip was spot on - questions were answered in a timely fashion.   On the day he was punctual, his vehicle was comfortable, and his driving skills excellent.   During the drive and at the sights he was informative without being overwhelming, was attentive to our needs and made the places come alive for us.  He was generous with his time and we felt he truly wants his clients to have a good and memorable time.

In the short period of time that we have known him, we feel that we have acquired a friend.   Dimitris is someone you will not regret getting to know.     Increase the quality of your trip by booking him as your guide - he provides guiding services in many places in Greece.

Book Him!

Demitris was the perfect tour guide for the Delphi area. A consummate professional, his pre-trip email communications, timeliness and attention to detail are second to none. He offered to personally drive us (instead of us renting a car) and met us at our Airbnb. We had several specific activities that we wanted to do and he suggested others we may be interested in as well. As an archeologist, he provided a full day of stories and historical facts about Delphi and delighted us with several special “surprise” side stops that made the day our most memorable day in Greece. He is gracious, friendly and passionate about this country and her history. THANK YOU, Demetris, for making our sister trip amazing!
