Discovering the treasures of Aksum

Reviewed March 7, 2017

I've been to Aksum with my mum and my grandma and Teshome was very kind to find us a place where to spend the night. The days after he took us to visit the city and all the best places in the region!

Teshome took care of my grandma who gets tired faster and he chose proper itineraries. He speaks English perfectly and has a great knowledge of his country which he loves. He has passion for his job and makes you feel comfortable.

I recommend him if you are visiting Aksum or Ethiopia for the first time because he knows his country so he will help you find places where to eat, to sleep and most of all means to move.

Teshome is the guide

Reviewed March 7, 2017

When i first met Teshome in Aksum seven or eight years ago, he was very young and i was not so sure about his ability to articulate the great history that Aksum embodies. Once at the Stalae field, however, he appeared bigger and more mature than i originally thought he would be. To our amazement, he passonately and elloquently explained all that incredible history in such a short time. All we (myself and the senior UN officials with me) could  say was WOW! Since then, I have recommended Teshome to many visitors and they all told me that i led them to the right person. I also connected him with a few people representing reputed global media outlets and they told me he is so capable, so trustworthy and incredibly kind. Once of them told me: "In the few days i was with Teshome, i felt like reexperiencing my mom's generocity. He would buy fruits and water and give us without expecting us to pay him back. Later on, i discovered that Aksum is well-known for its generous hospitality and that Teshome is a personification of that generousity".

If you plan to visit Aksum and Tigray, just make sure you contact Teshome well in advance as he is often fully booked for the entire high season.

Great knowledge, Good english, High recommendation

Me and my wife went to see Axum in February for a tour with our guide Teshome, we were happy to learn there was more to Axum than we thought. He explained thoroughly the history of the pillars, the tombs, the forts, the churches and the mysterious ways of the kings of old in this seat of power of the antique Aksumite Kingdom. He speaks good english so you can easily engage in discussion and questions and he have a calm easy personality while guiding you through the sights. I had a great time, I can recommend him.
