We only had a very short time to explore The Taj Mahal and as we were two ladies visiting from Australia we sought to have a female guide to join us. Monika was just what we were looking for. She was friendly and warm and very accommodating and at he same time she was incredibly knowledgable about The Taj Mahal and other monuments in Agra. I wanted a woman guide who spoke English, who could tell me about the history and architecture of Agra, especially the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, and would keep me out of the inadvertent trouble that an unknowing woman tourist traveling alone needs to be careful about. Monika is from Agra and is a licensed tour guide. In addition, she has a master's degree in history. She will keep you clear of the scammers, and she will assert your space when it's time to take pictures or stop for a moment to take a closer look at something significant. She also took some of the best pictures of me ever taken - she knows your angles! Also, she is kind and sassy and easy-going. I'll be telling my friends and colleagues to engage Monika if they're looking for a tour guide in North and West India.
