expert guide, eager to please...and fun!

Reviewed January 31, 2016

I have done three treks in Nepal with Taralal Dharel: Everest Base Camp, Langtang and Upper Mustang, which were all great (and safe) adventures, thanks to Taralal. He knows the ways, knows the teahouse owners, is always eager to help....and keeps you laughing. During some tough times Taralal even carried my day pack, but please don't ask him to do that! His good nature and sense of humor are a big plus on these long treks. He is also good in a pinch and can effortlessly change plans when circumstances change. For example, he was my guide when the earthquake hit Nepal in April 2015. He calmly managed my safe return to Kathmandu and ultimately my exit from Nepal, even as he faced the loss of his village home and as wife was in her final days of pregnancy. On a less dramatic occasion, I developed a foot infection from an earlier surgery and we had to cut a trek short. Without missing a beat, Taralal diverted us quickly back and developed a substitute non-hiking vacation for the rest of my stay that included Chitwan and Pokhara.I am proud to know Taralal and consider him a good, lifelong friend. I can not recommend him highly enough.Richard SchwartzNew York City, USA

If you want to have a good experience you can pick anyone,  BUT, if you want to have the best experience possible you can't get better than Taralal Dharel from NEPAL HIKING TREK . There isnt anything that he cannot help you organise so that you can have the trek of your dreams, and his local knowledge is second to none. We know that it takes a long time to plan a trip like this,  do yourself a favor, get the best in the field and you will get the most out of your trip.
