My husband and I were lucky enough to have Emanuela  as a guide for Catania and the local area. She was patient, thoughtful and an expert in teasing out exactly what we were looking for. She then made sure she met our every expectation and threw in some extra surprises. We parted the day with hugs - as she is now as much a parr of our experience as we were!

Elio arranged a perfect day for us. He was such a generous guide he took us around for a full day for a very reasonable price.  He picked us up from the station and the first stop was a beautiful little mountains village with the greatest pastry shop you can imagine! So that was a good start.  We were a mixed group from age 86 to 19 and he arranged the tour such that those who didn't want to walk much didn't need to and the young could explore at each stop as much as they liked. We saw lava flows, caves, craters, houses buried under volcanic ash and amazing breathtaking views. We stopped at a beautiful town for lunch and he pointed out good places to eat and the final stop was honey, wine and olive oil tasting. 

He explained everything very well and the whole group could not have been more happy with everything . He also drives very carefully.  It was a warm December day and we didn't really feel cold even at the highest place we went to. 

When he dropped us off back at the station at the end of the day he surprised us with a little gift for each of us.  Elio is truly a lovely, intelligent and communicative person. So friendly and a man who knows his locality very well. Obviously he is not a volcanologist but then he was able to provide that sort of information via a CD that played periodically to explain some of the details of the volcano and its history.
