Ashok was not a really a guide, he was more like a dear friend who cares about you and the amazing sights he is showing you - who just happens to be incredibly knowledgeable! Every step of the way he not only took care of every request, but shared personal insights which made the journey feel personal and warm. Ashok was also very flexible, when I told him I wanted to go a bit more local instead of sticking to the main tourist sites, we went to an amazing local Tibetan restaurant with smiling elderly woman and incredible food! He also took me through local markets and showed me a side of Nepal I would not have seen otherwise! 

I was on a two day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and was lucky to have Ashok Silwal as a guide. A good english speaking guide, very friendly and accommodating.

We visit the Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and several other historical sites and attractions around Kathmandu, and finally exploring the sunset from Nagarkot

Ashok was very interpretative and gave me the time I needed. He had a good knowledge about his culture and about his country and everything was happening at my pace.

Ashok Silwal gave us an excellent tour of some of the cultural sights in Kathmandu. He picked us up at our hotel and from the beginning was very friendly and open hearted.  I felt relaxed and taken care of from the start.  He was knowledgable and clear in his explanations and spoke very good English.  I would recommend Ashok to other travelers without hesitation.

I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Ashok Silwal on my second day in Kathmandu.  Ashok greeted me and another traveler from the U.S. at the Themal Eco Resort on time and with a smile on his face.  We visited Swayambhu Stupa, Durbar Square, Boudhanath, and even had the chance to see the Living Goddess.  During the tour Ashok was full of life and energy.  He was passionate about his heritage, thoughtful and full of knowledge about his culture, and especially wanted us to search deep inside ourselves about the meaning of certain religious practices and how we find enlightenment from them.  I've been on many tours in other countries in the past where the information given I could have read from a book, but Ashok did not regurgitate information in such a way.  He made it so we could understand how people lived out their lives and most importantly why Kathmandu is such a sacred and holy place.  He knew about architecture, religion, food, music, and every part of the city we had questions about he had an answer for!  Ashok is a passionate guide who should always be recommended for future tours! 

I look forward to another tour with Ashok on my medical volunteer trip to Nepal in January!

Ashok shared with us his love for Nepal, its history and culture. He cared for the children, shared his extended knowledge on nature and animals. He always made sure we were relax and safe during the hike.

I also shared deep conversations during our hikes which added to this day a very special memory.
