Maja was an exceptional guide because she combined history with beautiful locations often off the beaten track. She met us in Porec where we explored the grand 5th century Eupharsius Basilica. The mosaics were exceptional and she made the past come to life with her detailed description of their origin. We then followed her to  her home town of Pula where we viewed one of the 6th best remaining Roman Amphitheaters. We have been to the ones in Rome and Arles , France and this one was their equal.  We also saw several other Roman structures including a gate built before Christ.  It was similar to the two in the Roman forum . She went at our pace as we were a group of 5 in our early 70’s. She had a good sense of humor and was very enjoyable to be with. We would highly recommend her as she was  one of the best guides we have had in our 12 years of traveling in Europe.

Suran is the rare combination of energy and enthsiasm yet patience.  She fielded all my questions in Italian and had great and detailed answers.  .

She gave me a great feel for the ruins and the layers of building.   As the son and brother of architects, I really apprecaited it.
