I have had the pleasure of trekking with Urbano twice, and I plan to return for a third time in the future. In 2010 I trekked for nine days on the standard Choquequirao to Machu Picchu journey, and in 2015 returned to Cusco to embark on a custom 13 day trek on a custom route through remote and rarely traveled lands in the same region. He is not only a very technically sound and safe guide but FUN to enjoy a journey with! On my second journey I hired Urbano to both organize and lead the trek, and he seamlessly managed all logistics without any problems. Everything was safe, organized, fun, and at a fair price for everyone involved. Urbano honestly enjoys his work and is a good guide for anyone from beginners on basic routes to advanced trekkers on true expeditions. On my most recent journey my friends and I wanted an extreme level of solitude, difficulty and adventure and Urbano did not fail to disappoint. Urbano took us to amazing places that both challenged yet satisfied our need for adventure and remote areas. If you are interested in any kind of custom or lengthy trek (in addition to the routine) in the mountains around Cusco and the surrounding region Urbano is your guy. 

Urbano ia an experienced and personable guide who made our trip to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu unforgettable. His extensive knowledge and ability to speak Quechua with the local village folks enriched our experience of rural Peru. Urbano provided our group with a unique understanding of the history, current day to day lives, and culture of the Sacred Valley. Overall an excellent guide. I will book him again when I return to Peru.
