Adrian Ridley-Jones, our Battlefield Guide on a recent Sheerings Coach tour was excellent. He had an extensive knowledge of the area enabling us to visit many additional places of interest not included in the holiday. Adrian very kindly used his own time to research into my fathers regiment and the role played in the D Day landings, which made the tour even more special and personal to me. I would have no hesitation in recommending Adrian
Adrian Ridley-Jones was our guide on this Shearings Coach trip and he was excellent. He ensured that we packed as much in as possible during the two days he was with us. Not a minute was wasted and his knowledge of the subject was wide-ranging and first class. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would have no hesitation in recommending this trip to anyone else.

Part of the delight of guiding is discovering the wonderful family histories and some of the incredible stories that are all too often just like the Boys' Own stories. It is said that most films are based in reality, even some of the outlandish ones and one can see how this can be true when reviewin More
g the facts behind the fiction. It was a pleasure guiding you all and time passed all too quickly. Less
I travelled to Normandy with Shearings Tours in early June. Adrian was the official tour guide for two whole day. The wealth of information provided by Adrian is amazing. Only someone who knows the military machine as Adrian does can paint a picture in words that would take a great deal of time and effort to obtain for yourself. Added to that his local knowledge as a resident of Normandy and you have a truly first class guide to illuminate the history of the Atlantic Wall and the subsequent landings in 1944. I cannot recommend his services highly enough.
I cannot recommend this Highly enough, Adrian the tour guide is just so knowledgable, he knows absolutely everything you need to know, he is very entertaining and we could truly have stayed for hours and hours. Myself and my three female friends had the most amazing day that will stay with me for a long, long time, I am glad to say. In fact I am even coming back very soon to do the two day tour with my husband. Don't hesitate for a second, book this tour!!!

My partner and I, along with my two sisters, spent three nights and two full days in Normandy on 6/7 June. Our father, who died some years ago and would have been 90 on 6 June, had landed on Gold Beach on the same date on his 19th birthday on D-Day in 1944. We wanted to see where he landed, go to the places that he did immediately after landing and try and get a ‘feel’ for what it was like and what he went through. Adrian picked us up from our chambre d’hôte in his landrover on the first morning and provided us with the most outstanding experience. Our expectations were completely fulfilled, plus some! He skilfully provided a continuous stream of relevant information and took us to all the right places. With his friendly and engaging manner combined with a comprehensive knowledge of both the bigger picture and the detail he delivered just what we went to find. His wife had most thoughtfully provided each of us with a tiny glass phial which we all used to take some sand from Gold Beach home, something that none of us had considered. Operation Overlord and the Battle for Normandy were such enormous undertakings that you can only begin to learn about it in two days. However, Adrian pitched his tour perfectly for our needs. We even managed to fit in the briefest of trips to a Sunday morning market to stock up with local cheese and wine and took in the Bayeux Tapestry at the end of the day. A very moving and worthwhile experience. We cannot recommend Adrian Ridley-Jones highly enough.
