Description

Enjoy a 2-day geological trek to the summit of an active volcano, Mt Welirang. Pass through the tranquil tropical forest and explore sulphur potholes at the slope of the summit. Hike down from the mountain, drive along the vegetable fields on the other side of the mountain to arrive at a hot spring water pool, Cangar.

  • Day 1 : Prigen - Pondok Lirang expand_more

    • 05.00 am - Pick up from the hotel or airport in Malang.

    • Drive to the district of Prigen, East Java by mini-bus or bus.

    • 07.00 am - Arrive at Prigen. Report to Bksda office. Prepare logistic, and have Breakfast at Warung.

    • 08.00 am - Start trek up the stoney path to Kokopan.

    • 12.00 pm - Have a lunch break at Kokopan.

    • 01.00 pm - Continue the trek up to Pondok Lirang hut.

    • 05.00 pm - Reach Pondok Lirang hut. Stay overnight. Sharing hut accommodation.

    • 07.00 pm- Eat dinner. Free time to explore the vicinity.

  • Day 2 : Pondok Lirang - Summit of Mt Welirang expand_more

    • 02.30 am - Wake up early, and have tea or coffee served at the hut.

    • 03.00 am - Trek up to the summit of Mt. Welirang.

    • 05.00 am - Arrive at the summit of Mt. Welirang. Watch sunrise. Head Down to sulphur potholes to explore the rock of sulphur.

    • Enjoy the snack/hot tea served.

    • 06.00 am - Head down to the village of Sumber Brantas via Mt. Bakal. Breakfast and snack/hot tea served in the forest.

    • 12.00 pm - Come out of the forest, pick up by 4 x 4 vehicle, and continue driving to Village of Sumber Brantas and hot spring water pool, cangar.

    • Have Lunch at Sumber Brantas.

    • 02.00 pm - Reach Cangar. Free time to enjoy hot spring water bath.

    • 04.00 pm - Return to Malang by minibus.

    • 06.00 pm - Transfer to hotel/ airport.
