Moshi to Mandara Hut & Maundi Crater expand_more
Meet your tour guide in Moshi at 8:30 AM and begin your 45-minute drive to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Arrive at Marangu Gate and complete your registration and other paperwork before your hike.
Begin hiking at 9:30 AM. Hike through the rainforest from the park gate (6000 ft above sea level) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft above sea level). Stop en route for lunch.
Reach Mandara Huts at 1:30 AM and take a short walk.
Descend to Marangu Gate again. You may reach the gate around 4:45 PM.
Make your way to Maundi Crater, about 15 minutes away, which is a good way to see the montane forest surroundings and behold stunning panoramic views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
Return to Moshi at 6:45 PM.
