  • Day 1: Nairobi – Aberdares/Mt. Kenya National Park (Forest Tree Lodge) expand_more
    • Depart Nairobi after breakfast with the Kenyan guide/driver. The destination today is the Aberdares National Park.

    • Travel overland through plantations of coffee and tea to The Aberdares Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill.

    • After lunch, set off for the Ark tree lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdares Mountains at 7,000 feet. This outstanding lodge offers high altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere: Giant forest hog, Bushpig, Tree Hyrax, large Spotted Genet, and the elusive Bongo Antelope. Wildlife can be observed from different levels – and from outside where you can see, hear and smell everything and inside where you can sit with a cup of tea and stay warm and cosy. You can put in a request to be awakened during the night if your favourite animals show up. A herd of elephants might be just feet away and if you are lucky, a leopard or large male Lion might put in an appearance.

  • Day 2: Forest Lodge – Samburu Game Reserve expand_more
    • This morning travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Depart and drive north through to the northern frontier district and on to Samburu Game Reserve.

    • Enjoy an afternoon game drive in this reserve famous for its exclusive game viewing.

    Dinner and overnight at either Ashnil Samburu Camp, Samburu Game Lodge, Samburu Simba Lodge, Samburu Sopa Lodge or Sentrim Samburu Lodge.

  • Day 3: full day to explore Samburu Game Reserve expand_more
    • Spend this whole day exploring Samburu Game Reserve with early morning game drive, where the light is perfect for a good photographic scenery coupled with the concentration of wildlife on the ground; go on mid-morning game drives and afternoon game drives, where you will have the opportunity of spotting all the three cats including lions, leopards and cheetahs. You will have an option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire whole day in Samburu Game Reserve.

    • You can have an optional visit to Samburu Village and learn about the uniqueness of the Samburu tribe and their culture at an extra cost. A wide variety of animals and birds life is seen at Samburu Game Reserve.

    • Drop-off at either your hotel or airport to connect your homebound flight depending on the arrangements where the safari ends.

  • Note: The tour is based on the stated lodges/camp. You may request another quotation based on other lodges of your choice. The cost may change if influenced by an increment of park entrance fees, and government taxes.

  • This safari itinerary covers Aberdares National Park and Samburu Game Reserve.

  • Several species are considered unique to the region, including its unique dry-country animal life: All three big cats including lion, cheetah and leopard can be found here as well as Samburu elephant and buffalo. Uaso Nyiro River contains a large number of Nile crocodiles. Other mammals are frequently seen in the park including gerenuk, Grant gazelle, Kirk dik-dik, impala, waterbuck, Grevy zebra, Beisa oryx and reticulated giraffe. Over 400 species of bird are seen in Samburu Game Reserve. These include Somali ostrich, grey-headed kingfishers sunbird, bee-eater, marabou stork, tawny eagle, bateleur, vulturine guineafowl, lilac-breasted roller, palm nut vulture, red-billed hornbill, secretary birds, Verreaux eagle, superb starling, yellow-billed hornbill and vulture.


Payment Policy

  • Booking fee: 30% within 7 days after confirmation of the booking.

  • Balance and full payments to be paid 25 days prior to the safari starting date.

  • Booking confirmed within 25 days to the tour starting date should be paid in full.

  • Ashford Tours is not liable for the progress of any booking in case of non-compliance with the above payment conditions. We recommend that you secure your booking with a deposit of 30% of the tour fees within 7 days of confirmation. The balance of payment is due 25 days prior to the tour starting date. Upon receipt of full payment, Ashford Tours will issue all relevant travel documents.


Cancellation Policy
If you cancel a confirmed booking, a cancellation fee will apply. A cancellation is only possible if communicated in written form.

  • If you cancel a trip:

    • At any time but over 45 days after your booking has been confirmed Ashford Tours and Travel retains a 5% non-refundable deposit as administration costs on all services booked with us. Advise you to sign cancellation insurance at the time of booking which will cover cancellation fees.

    • If you leave a tour for any reason after it has commenced, we are not obliged to make any refunds for unused services.

    • Any monies paid will be refunded less the cost of cancellation fees levied by hotels or food expenses and administrative costs as indicated here below:
