Description

Head out to the western end of the North section that incorporates one of the larger subdivisions, now predominately residential historic/heritage housing. The tour commences at the Wellington Hotel in Wellington Square and ends at the same place. Stories are told about the former residents of some fine dwellings and you visit a priory, church and a great smattering of different eras of heritage.

    • View St Laurence's Church and Priory, built in stages from the 1860s through to 1910.

    • Visit Buxton House, the former home of prominent lawyers built in 1909.

    • Visit the "Corner Store" built in the 1870s.

    • View Regency Style Terrace houses dating from the 1850s/1860s.

    • See workers cottages which date from the 1840s through to the 1860s.

    • See and hear the story surrounding one of Adelaide's "quaintest" houses built during the 1850s.

    • View 1870s/1880s Victoriana Villas.

    • See former Primitive Methodist Church dating from the 1880s, now being converted into residential living.
