  • Day 2: Yerevan - Vayk expand_more
    • Go on a trip to the Vayots Dzor region, where you will visit places where the great saints Thaddeus and Bartholomew set foot. The pilgrimage to the holy places will begin at 9 a.m. after breakfast.

    • First, pay your respects at an old temple near the Gnishik River, which is located on the way to Noravank. According to legends, Saint Thaddeus preached in these places and brought out for public display a part of the cross (on which Jesus Christ was crucified). It was then by touching the holy power of the cross that a source of water was opened that quenches the thirst of all those who seek. After the adoption of Christianity as a state religion, a temple was built on this source, and the water became healing.

    • After the temple, visit Noravank. Have lunch in a wonderful Armenian restaurant called Lchak, and try authentic ancient Armenian food of the first century.

    • Next, head to an old temple located in the city of Vayk, where crowds of people listened to the sermons of St. Bartholomew. After one of the first Christian communities in the region was established, believers built this temple.

In the evening, have dinner at a local restaurant and stay at the Vike Hotel.

  • Day 3: Vayk expand_more
    • After breakfast, go on a short walk around the city and visit a local winery.

    • Next, continue on the path that Bartholomew walked with the miraculous icon of the Mother of God and visit the Temple of Tanut. This temple was located near the ancient pagan temple, dedicated to the Goddess of love and fertility - Anahit. The story goes that when the guards guarding the temple tried to seize the apostle, the temple began to crumble. After this incident, people began to listen to the apostle and accept the faith that he preached. Later, a church was built in this place, which stands there to this day.

    • Head to the Surb Khach church, which is located 7 km east of the village of Vernashen, Vayots Dzor district. In the southeastern part of the church, St. Bartholomew buried a part of the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Have lunch in a restaurant.

    • Then, take a trip to the village of Artavan, where there is a place called Buzkhan. This place is notable for the fact that during the persecution of the saints, the rock revealed a gap in itself, where St. Thaddeus hid. Despite the unbearable heat outside, there was an unbearable cold inside the cave. The leg of an ordinary person could not step on this territory, and who tried immediately died from the cold. Only St. Thaddeus, with the blessing of the Lord, could stand there, not feeling the slightest cold.

After visiting this place, have dinner and spend the night in the city of Vayk.

  • Day 4: Vayk - Yerevan expand_more
    • Return to Yerevan.

    • En route, see the meeting place of the holy apostles under the name Otjats Cross, which is located near the Khor Virap Monastery.
