Meet up with your host at Nakawa fresh produce market early in the morning around 9:00 am (lunch experience) or late afternoon at 4:00 pm (dinner experience). 

Enjoy a relaxed hour or so of picking up fresh ingredients in the market, and let your host teach you about the different local foods and ingredients, as well as show you the tricky art of haggling with Ugandan vendors.

Head off to the host's home to meet the rest of the family.

Enjoy preparing an Ugandan meal with the aid of the host family. Learn to prepare Matooke (steamed green bananas), luwombo (chicken or goat steamed in banana leaves), Smoked tilapia prepared in peanut sauce, tropical salads and many more. Meals may be prepared on local Ugandan charcoal stoves.

Enjoy a sumptuous lunch or dinner with the family. Do not be surprised if lots of visitors join in mealtime, since its a social occasion in Uganda, where friends and family are normally invited to join.

Relax and have conversation with Ugandan beer and wine/ gin or juice. 

Learn to play the local board and card games like Omweso and Matatu. 

Share stories of your home and life with your hosts, and learn about theirs.
