Highlights
  • Learn about the "Big Five" in Serengeti National Park
  • Visit Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera
  • Explore Tarangire National Park, most famous for its elephant migration
  • Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park expand_more
    • In the morning, be greeted by the guide, and after an approximately 2-hour drive, reach Tarangire National Park.

    • While entering the park, the guide will open up the roof for a better viewing experience. The landscape is made up of seasonal marshes and a seemingly endless tree savannah comprised of mighty baobab trees. The park is home to the largest elephant herds in the north of Tanzania.

    • After an extensive game drive, reach Oliver’s Camp or N.K, which is located close to the animal dense Silale Swamps.

    Meals: Lunch and Dinner.

  • Day 2: Tarangire National Park expand_more
    • In the morning, go into the bush on foot, accompanied by an experienced walking guide and an armed ranger, focusing on the smaller things and learn more about nature, wildlife behaviour, and animal tracks.

    • After lunch in the camp, go on an afternoon game drive, and have more time to explore this amazing and beautiful park.

    • Return to Oliver’s Camp at sunset and spend another night at the camp.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

  • Day 3: Tarangire National Park to Karatu expand_more
    • On the way out of the gate, have some more time to see animals to spot the ones missed previously.

    • Continue journey towards the multi-cultural town of Mto wa Mbu, leaving the African Rift Valley behind and proceeding towards the vegetation of the rich crater highlands.

    • Soon, the higher lands will provide a wonderful view of the Masai Plains as Lake Manyara becomes visible.

    • Photo stops will be taken to enjoy the spectacular views.

    • Continue to Karatu, and later, arrive at Gibb’s Farm, which lies in the middle of its own coffee plantation and has wonderful views.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

  • Day 4: Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu expand_more
    • Drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and down into the Ngorongoro Crater. See the grass steps and acacia forests, which are home to almost all species of animals found in the East African savannah.

    • In only a few hours, have the chance of spotting the big five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard.

    • After an extensive game viewing and a picnic in the crater, leave the Ngorongoro Crater in the afternoon and travel back to Karatu to spend another night at Gibb’s Farm.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

  • Day 5: Karatu to Serengeti National Park expand_more
    • Proceed towards Serengeti National Park.

    • After passing the crater highlands, see the plains of the southern Serengeti and start to understand the meaning of the word “Serengeti”, which stands for endless plain.

    • Spot animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, topi, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, and many more. The Serengeti is also home to the largest animal migration on the planet.

    • Depending on the time of the year and the location of the big herds, spend overnight at one of Asilia’s tented camps: either Dunia, Olakira, or Kimondo.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

  • Day 6: Serengeti National Park expand_more
    • Days 6 and 7 are dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park.

    • During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return up north.

    • As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year, but the guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them at their best.

Spend overnight at either Dunia Camp, Olakira Camp, or Kimondo Camp.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
