Day 1 - Head to Machame Gate expand_more
Meet your tour guide at a negotiated location and head to Machame gate at 09:00 am for registration followed by seeing your porters and cook.
Hike through the dense rainforest while enjoying the view of different flora and fauna.

Day 2 - View Kibo Peak & Mount Meru expand_more
Have a full and hearty breakfast.
Trek uphill to several viewpoints from where you can see the plains and forests below.
See Kibo peak and the extraordinary Mount Meru, which is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania.
Spot Kilimanjaro's famous high altitude plants, Senecio Kilimanjaro and Lobelia deckenii.

Day 3 - Hike to Barranco Camp expand_more
Get acclimatized to hike to the lava tower, which is 14000 ft/4640m high, before descending to Barranco Camp (12960 ft/3950m) for an overnight stay.
Enjoy the beautiful view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 4 - Climb Barranco Wall & Reach Karanga Camp expand_more
Leave Barranco Camp post-breakfast and start climbing the Barranco Wall.
Hike up and down to Karanga Camp where you will be served a delicious and hot lunch.
Spend the day at leisure.

Day 5 - See Kibo's Glaciers & Mawenzi Peak expand_more
Have a warm breakfast and hike to Barafu Camp.
View Kibo's glaciers, Mawenzi Peak as well as the junction that connects the Mweka route.
Sleep as soon as you finish dinner to wake up before midnight for the summit hike.

Day 6 - Hike to Summit & Reach Uhuru Peak expand_more
Wake up at 11:30 pm and have a light breakfast before hiking to the summit.
Start at 12:00 am, taking about 5 hours to reach the Stella point (14000ft/ 5730m), which is at the rim of the crater.
Hike about an hour through the rim of the crater to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest peak of Kilimanjaro mountain. You will be at the Summit by sunrise, 6:00 am to 7:00 am.
Return to Barafu Camp where you will have a delicious lunch.
Continue towards Mweka Camp to have a warm dinner and rest after a tiring day.

Day 7 - Departure expand_more
Head to Mweka gate, crossing the rainforest again and return to your hotel.

Know before you go
- Recommended tips: $20 for head guide per day, $15 per assistant guide per day, $15 per cook per day and $10 per porter per day. This can be split between each client.
- The average tip is anything from $250 to $300 per hiker, depending on the number of days/hikers in the group and the route chosen.
- Entry visa for Tanzania is $50 per passport holder for most nationalities and $100 per visa for USA passport holders.
- Yellow Fever check-up is compulsory depending on how you travel to Tanzania. Meningitis and Hepatitis A optional but recommended.
- Some gears will be available for rent.
