Day 1: Marangu Gate (1890m) to Mandara Hut (2227m) expand_more
Transfer from hotel in Moshi and cross cultivation zone towards Marangu village.
Head towards Marangu gate (1890 meters) on a 1-hour drive.
Register at the gate and meet the crew.
Start hiking to cover 8 kilometres in about 3-4 hours, including crossing the rainforest.
Picnic lunch and drinking water will be provided on the way.
Arrive at Mandara hut for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Hike to Horombo Hut (3720m) expand_more
After breakfast, trek for 5-6 hours to cover 10 km.
Lunch and drinking water will be provided on the way.
Reach moorland zone to view Kibo and Mawenzi peak from afar.
Arrive at Horombo hut for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Hike to Kibo Hut (4720m) expand_more
Trek through the alpine desert and cross the saddle area between Kibo and Mawenzi.
Trek for 4-6 hours to cover a distance of 9 km.
Lunch and water will be provided. Many hikers could also experience mountain sickness, so take necessary precautions.
Arrive at Kibo hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Hike to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Horombo Hut (3720m) expand_more
Around midnight, have some tea and snacks and prepare to ascend the summit.
Dress warm and starting hiking for 6-8 hours to cover almost 6 kilometres towards Uhuru peak.
First peak is situated at Gilman’s point (5685 meters), located at the crater rim, and then Stella point (5756 meters).
Join hikers from other routes heading together to Uhuru peak.
Arrive at the summit in time to witness the spectacular sunrise.
Stay at the peak for 10-15 minutes for viewing and taking pictures.
Descend via the same trail to Kibo Hut for resting.
After resting for 1-2 hours, pack up, have brunch, and start descending towards Horombo hut.
Arrive at Horombo hut for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Descend to Marangu Gate (1890m) expand_more
Soon after breakfast, meet the crew for group pictures and singing Kilimanjaro songs.
Continue descending down to Mandara hut.
Stop for hot lunch at Mandara hut and then descend to Marangu gate for 6-8 hours. (18 kilometres).
At Marangu gate, sign to the Kilimanjaro National Park logbook.
The Kilimanjaro expert officer (guide) will collect the certificate for those who managed to successfully summit.
Transfer back to the hotel in Moshi for a long hot shower and Kilimanjaro beer.
End of tour.

Know before you go
For single entry visa and tourist visa can be obtained upon arrivals at all international airports and all Tanzania border, yellow fever documentation is required.
We recommend training in running, cycling, and hiking before going for the trek.
Once hiking, carry 5-8 kgs of a day pack and wear climbing shoes.
The huts along the Marangu route are communal and have a sponge mattress, pillow, and solar power.
All climbing groups, often from several countries around the world, share meals in dining huts providing a jovial and energetic atmosphere.
