Embark on a 2.5-hour journey from Rabaul Port to the Hot Springs, where your adventure begins. Next, at 8:15 AM, enjoy a scenic hike with stunning views. Then, at 9:15 AM, arrive at the summit for a surreal volcanic encounter. Afterward, commence your descent, reaching the base around 9:35 AM. Continue with transport back to the port, concluding the tour at 10:30 AM.

    • 8:00 AM: 15-minute transfer from the wharf to the Hot Springs, where the road ends and your adventure begins.
    • 8:15 AM: Begin your adventure. Enjoy spectacular views along the hike. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the top.
    • 9:15 AM: Arrive at the top and enjoy a 20-minute unreal volcanic experience. The view is a million-dollar view from the top, and just the feeling of being in an active volcano is surreal.
    • 9:35 AM: Commence your descent. In just about 40 minutes, you'll be back at the base, where your transport will be ready and waiting to whisk you away.
    • 10:15 AM: Arrive at the hot springs and transfer to Rabaul Port.
    • 10:30AM: Tour terminates at Rabaul Port.

Know before you go
  • Mt Tavurvur is approximately 223 meters above sea level.
  • The volcanic rocks along the track are rather sharp so be watch where you put your hands for support .
  • It gets really hot and humid during the day so drink lots of water.
  • Bring electrolytes if you have any.
  • There a lots of loose volcanic rocks that may ware you down. Your local guides are there to support you.
  • Locals charge extra for drones. Highest is K200 extra or you can negotiate.
