Day 1: Arrival in Iquitos & River Tour expand_more
Meet your tour guide at the airport in Iquitos to begin your tour.
Drive in a private car for 45 minutes to San Joaquin de Omagua Village.
Travel for 1 hour and 15 minutes by boat in the Amazon River and then in the Yanayacu River. Try and spot unique birds as you make your way downstream.
- Return to your lodge after your first day of birdwatching.

Day 2: Birdwatching in the Jungle expand_more
Have a sumptuous breakfast and leave for the jungle to spot endemic birds. Make sure to let your guide know what you wish to see, and he will take you to where you can find the birds on your Amazon list.

Day 3: Birdwatching around the Amazon River expand_more
Make your way to the main Amazon River after breakfast.
Enjoy the day's birdwatching. You may see various bird species such as Antbirds and Curassows.

Day 4: Yanayacu River & Hiking Expedition expand_more
Leave early from your lodge and explore the Yanayacu River.
Hike in the primary forest as you keep an eye out for more spectacular birds along the river and its tributaries.

Day 5: Departure expand_more
Take a short boat ride or a quick hiking trip in the jungle, depending upon your flight time.
After breakfast or lunch, take the boat and transfer back to the airport or your hotel in Iquitos.

What to bring
Light-weight clothing that breathes and easily sheds moisture (not cotton). Take one set of clothes for each day.
Long pants are recommended for jungle walks and insect prevention.
Long or short sleeve shirts. Long sleeve shirts aren’t as cool but protect better from insects.

Hat for sun protection
1 – 2 pairs of comfortable walking or hiking shoes (rubber boots are provided for some excursions)
Insect repellent containing 20 – 30 % DEET. Many times there will be very few mosquitoes and insects. Other times there will be many. Take a small bottle that you can keep in your pocket for use when needed.
Light, inexpensive poncho or raincoat
Plastic bag for dirty clothes.
Sunscreen
Camera equipment, high-quality cameras, and lenses or compact cameras, whatever suits you
Dry bag or other water protection (at least a Ziploc bag)
Battery charger
Flashlight (headlamps are usually the best)
Personal toiletries

Sandals or leisure shoes for around the lodge
