Post breakfast, depart at 8 am, first to the private tour bus station and then in the north direction to Llanganuco Lakes, which are located between the mountains of Huascaran and Huandoy. Tour starts at 3100 masl. in Huaraz.

Pass by several typical Peruvian villages like Monterrey, Paltay, Tarica, Jangas,  and Yungar Anta. Enjoy views of the beautiful white mountains of Huandoy, Huascaran, Hualcan, Copa and others. You can take photos from the various viewing points on the way.

Continue on to Marcara, Carhuaz (2650masl), and Yungay. Yungay holds a devastating history - a 7 degree earthquake took place on 31st May 1970 at 3:20 pm; pieces of the Huascaran mountain’s north peak broke off and caused a huge avalanche of mud and ice which destroyed the Yungay province in 6 seconds. A guided visit will take you around 45 minutes.

Start ascending the dusty road up to Llanganuco Lakes, 1 km north will be New Yungay.

Arrive at the base of the Mountain Huascaran and Huandoy. Continue until the place called Cebollapampa trailhead for Pisco Mountain climbing and Lake 69.

Walk along the valley, visiting the Orconcocha first and bird watching.

Continue to Chinacocha Lake; here you can try alternative activities such as sailing on small boats or horse riding.

Stroll along the trail of Maria Josefa, brimming with vegetation. The bus will be waiting for us at the end of this trail.

Stop for lunch at a typical countryside restaurant on your own.

Return to Yungay and then drive back to Huaraz, arriving at around 6 pm to our private bus station.
