    • Listen to the story of why the Cathedral was unfortunately left unfinished in the middle of the 14th century, thus abandoning the project of the “Nuovo Duomo” (new Cathedral). 
    • Have the opportunity to admire the floor that holds important masterpieces made of inlaid marble, even in the period when the floor will not be completely uncovered. 
    • Explore the interior of the Cathedral in detail: the wonderful statues of Michelangelo, including that of St. Paul, which is considered the artist’s first self-portrait; the Chapel of San Giovanni Battista that guards a late work realized by Donatello; the Chigi Chapel (Chapel of the Vow) by Bernini, for which he created two magnificent statues and the charming pulpit of Nicola Pisano. 
    • Have the chance to admire the frescoes in the apsidal basin, made by Domenico Beccafumi. 
    • The visit inside the Piccolomini Library is a unique experience. See the frescoes by Pinturicchio and Raffaello that represent scenes of the life of Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who became Pope, with the name of Pope Pius II. 
    • When the floor is uncovered, the guide will also dwell on some of the panels under the dome that portray the stories of Elijah and Ahab, the work of the Sienese artist Domenico Beccafumi.

  • In addition to the Cathedral, you can also visit the Baptistery, the Crypt, the Opera Museum and “Facciatone” by purchasing a single ticket valid for three days.
  • The price of the ticket varies depending on the time of the year and what you want to see: 
    • starting from 5 euros when the floor of the Cathedral is covered
    • starting from 8 euros when the floor of the Duomo is uncovered
    • free for children up to 7 years and people with disabilities
