San Gimignano and Volterra Tour expand_more
Visit Volterra, one of the most important Tuscan towns in each one of its historical periods – one of the 12 Etruscan “lucumonie” in the IV Century BC, the jewel in the crown during the Roman age, bishop seat in the Middle Ages, and one of the first examples of Commune at the beginning of the '200. It is a town rich in history and extremely fascinating, nowadays famous globally for its exclusive production of alabaster. Thanks to its theatrical season during the summer, it has become a destination for artists and art lovers. Its corners, narrow alleys, and typical restaurants will enchant you!
Head to San Gimignano, only 20 km from Volterra, a UNESCO heritage site preserved in its purely medieval characteristics. Visit its world-famous towers, and stroll through the Cistern Square, the Dome Square and the Dome itself with its naif frescoes. Marvel at the Fort and check out the St. Agostino Church.
Shop the uniquely decorated potteries, and try the homemade gelato in the local market!
