Description

Spend a day discovering some of the best places on the Camino de Santiago to Finisterre, the ancient end of the World of the Romans and a natural extension of the Jacobean route. Visit the magnificent and famous places on the Costa da Morte such as the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Barca in Muxía and KM 0 of the Camino to Finisterre Lighthouse. Admire the beauty of the Ézaro Waterfall and see the Carnota’s Hórreo.

Highlights
  • Explore Finisterre, the ancient end of the World of the Romans
  • See the famous Finisterre Lighthouse
  • Visit Carnota’s Hórreo granary and the Ézaro Waterfall
  • Find an old bridge built over the river Tambre
  • Finisterre - Muxia - Costa da Morte expand_more
    • Meet your tour leader at the meeting point and depart to Ponte Maceira, one of the key points of the Jacobean route for pilgrims who, once they arrive in Santiago de Compostela, decide to continue on their way to the coast of Finisterre. Here we find an old bridge, built over the river Tambre. A beautiful place, obligatory on the Camino to Finisterre.
    • Continue to the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca. Stop of many pilgrims: The Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca, which faces the force of the ocean and where you can see the different and most famous stones of this place, full of legends about the arrival of the Apostle Santiago.
    • Stop for lunch right in the heart of the Finisterre town (the port). Here you can enjoy the local gastronomy with many restaurants at suitable prices.
    • See the famous “END OF THE WORLD” for the ancient Romans, which coincides with Cape Finisterre. Here is the Finisterre Lighthouse, Km 0 of the Camino a Finisterre, the view of the COSTA DA MORTE, etc. Perhaps because Cape Fisterra hides the true secret of the Costa da Morte: rugged landscapes and impressive beaches, some (sheltered by the cape) with calm waters and others with strong waves, such as Mar de Fora, one of the wildest beaches in Galicia.
    • Visit Finisterre Lighthouse (Faro de Fisterra). It is probably the most visited in Europe and the closest to America, built in 1853, 138 meters above sea level. Considered the cape of the end of the world, “Finis Terrae”. For thousands of years, it was thought that beyond it, there was only a watery chasm in which the sun went out every night and through which one reached a region of darkness populated by sea monsters.
    • Visit the Ézaro waterfall, a place of incredible beauty located within mountains that hide many legends. It is the only waterfall in all of continental Europe that reaches directly into the ocean.
    • Next, head to Carnota’s Hórreo, where you will be taught something very typical of Galicia, something that belongs to the cultural heritage of Galicia: the Horreo. This stop allows you to see the longest granary in the world and admire its special structure.
    • Visit Muros, one of the towns on the Galician coast, where you can discover the rafts, the Food Market, or there is free time to have a drink or walk along the beach!
    • Return to the starting point of the tour.
