Continue by visiting the southern part of the city, climbing down narrow alleyways while noticing the chamfered corners of the houses. Walk across the southern fortifications, enjoying a great view of the fortified Upper Town and appreciating the traditional architectural style of Monemvasia. 

Stroll through the southern Portello gate and see the steep cliffs, the place where the merchants unloaded their merchandise. 

Visit the square of Megali Tapia, at the center of which stands the church of Virgin Mary Chrysaphitissa, the walls of which are painted white. 

Go through the main street to reach the central square of the settlement. Across its route, you find many taverns, workshops and hostels. 

Arrive at the main square, where Monemvasia’s cathedral is located, the famous church of Christ Elkomenos (Crucified Christ). On the opposite side of the church is the Archaeological Collection Building, which includes fireproof vessels, the architectural members of many churches and parts of the city's water supply system. 

Return to Portello gate and make a stop at Mister Vironas's estate for wine tasting. Monemvasia's wine was commonly known as Malvoisie and considered one of the best in the world. It was so good that it's said that the Doge of Venice had its own personal supply.
