    On arrival at Kotoka International Airport, our expert local tour guide will meet, assist and transfer you to your hotel in a private air-conditioned vehicle. After check-in, your guide, who will be with you throughout your stay, will brief you on what to expect during your stay in Ghana.

    There is interesting cultural variation among the Akan, or Ashanti and Fanti people. On this day, we will visit the different family tribes, interact with them and learn their basic language. This tour will allow you to taste their local food and immerse yourself in their culture.

    Visit a private naming ceremony. This takes you through the naming process and sheds light on its history and origins. At the end of the ceremony, you receive a unique soul name that reflects your day of birth. Participate in an integral part of Ghanaian culture and learn about the history of the naming ceremony.

    Visit the capital of the famed Ashanti Kingdom of Gold in Kumasi. The Ashanti King still settles disputes at Manhyia Palace. See the legendary Okomfo Anokye Sword and tour craft villages specializing in woodworking and fabrics.

  • Day 5 : Cape Coast and Elmina Slave Castles expand_more

    Today you travel to Ghana’s Central Region; enroute, you will stop at Assin Manso, the burial site of two former slaves from the U.S. and Jamaica whose remains were re-interred here. Visit the “Slave River”, where captured Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean. Arrive in Cape Coast and visit Cape Coast Castle and Museum for a guided tour. Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site and was one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas. The Castle is home to the infamous “Door of No Return”.

  • Day 6: Cape Coast - Kakum National Park expand_more

    After breakfast, visit Kakum National Park. Kakum is one of Ghana’s most famous parks. Take a brief walking tour on the forest floor; see birds and butterflies and perhaps catch a glimpse of the forest's over 40 species of mammals, including monkeys and the reclusive forest elephant. Proceed to the canopy walk. Kakum is home to Africa’s only aerial walkway through the tree canopy, a 1000-foot-long and seven-bridge walkway with viewing platforms that reach over 150 feet above the ground.

  • Day 7: Accra - Aburi Botanical Gardens - La Pleasure BeacH expand_more

    Depart to Accra. Visit Aburi botanical gardens. Snaking through the lush Akwapim hills, these gardens comprise great lawns planted with native and imported trees and plants.

  • Day 8 : Accra - Leisure/Shopping expand_more

    We will go shopping for artwork, fabrics and locally-made goods as a real delight in the Accra International Art Centre as souvenirs.

  • Day 9: Depart from Accra (Flexible drop-off) expand_more
