Description

Learn ski touring in Gudauri, one of the main ski resorts in The Republic of Georgia. Situated in the region of Dusheti in the municipality of Kazbegi at 2200 metres Gudauri lies on the southern slopes of the Caucasus mountain range, the highest range of mountains in Europe. On this 8-day tour, ski to Mount Chrdilli, and skin to the Lomisi peak, where you will get a chance to interact with monks from the monastery. Enjoy 360-degree views of the Caucasus from Mount Dadaena and Mount Miketi, and look down at the spectacular Truso valley. Also enjoy sightseeing in Tbilisi, an ancient and historical capital situated on the old silk road at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.

    • Pick-up from Tbilisi international airport by your tour manager.

    • Transfer over 1-2 hours by 4x4 vehicles to Gudauri and check-in at your hotel.

  • Day 2: Mt. Chrdili & Gudauri expand_more
    • After taking on plenty of carbs at breakfast, start the morning with an avalanche briefing, including tour rules, and a warm-up skiing of 300 metres to Mt Chrdili (2500 metres). 

    • Go for a thrilling 1.5-2 hours-long first descent into Gudauri (300 vertical meters)

    • After lunch, take the lift up to the highest station Sadzele (3300m), before heading for the Kobi Pass at (3000 m) for an afternoon full of free-riding and 1300 metres of descent back to the vehicle.

    • Drive back to Gudauri for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 2: Mleta, Lomisi Ridge, Mt. Bidara expand_more
    • After a hearty breakfast, transfer by vehicle to the village of Mleta.

    • Set out for a skin/ ski to Lomisi peak, where the 7th-century Lomisi monastery is located. Get a chance to meet the monks living here and hear the legend of this this ancient monastery along a ridge at 2400m, which offers spectacular views over the high Caucasus.

    • Set out for an 800-metres-long descent back to the vehicle for a transfer on to our next start point.

    • In the afternoon, have lunch and head for the Jvari pass.

    • Begin tour to Mt. Bidara at 3000m with a 650 vertical meters of ascent. On the top we can enjoy a small stop and tea with stunning views over the Gudauri resort and Caucasus valleys,

    • Begin descent of 1000 m right back to the hotel door.

    Overnight stay at the hotel.


  • Day 4: Jvari Pass & Mt. Dedaena Plateau expand_more
    • Enjoy a hearty breakfast and start the day with a 15-minute transfer from your hotel to the foot of Mt. Dedaena, which stands at a height of 3449m, and climb to a plateau at 3000m where you will be met by stunning 360 views over the Caucasus.

    • Enjoy a scrumptious lunch on site.

    • After a briefing and explanation of the route, head down this superb descent of 1000m back to our waiting vehicle for our transfer back to Gudauri.

    • Have dinner and retreat for an overnight stay.

  • Day 5: Mt Miketi & Mt Sheli expand_more
    • Enjoy a hearty breakfast and transfer by vehicle to the village of Mleta. After crossing the white Aragvi river, pass the small settlement of Ganisi and the ruins of Erkhoti until you reach a plateau at approximately 2200m.

    • From the plateau, climb mount Sheli (2579m) and continue to the peak of mount Miketi (2940m).

    • After enjoying the amazing views from Miketi peak and a small break for lunch, head down this superb descent of 1100m back to waiting vehicle for our transfer back to Gudauri.

    • Enjoy a scrumptious dinner and overnight stay in Gudauri.

  • Day 6: Sioni & Narvani- Kaparchina Mountains expand_more
    • Enjoy an early morning breakfast.

    • Transfer to Sioni valley on the northern side of the jvari pass. Start ascent at 2100m from Sioni valley and climb to 3200m to follow the ridge connecting the Narvani-Kaparchina Mountains. If the weather is favourable, you will be able to enjoy an imposing view of the legendary Mt. Kazbegi at 5047m and the stunning Truso valley.

    • Enjoy lunch and begin the descent back down 1100 metres of untouched slopes to Sioni.
    • Transfer to Tbilisi for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 7: Sightseeing in Tbilisi expand_more
    • Enjoy breakfast and head out for a free day to discover the delights of this ancient and historical capital situated on the old silk road at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. The hotel will be situated at a 5-minute walk from Tbilisi old town where there are many cafés, restaurants, bars, and of course, shops to buy souvenirs to take back home.

    • You may make your way to the Narikala fortress with has the Mother of Georgia standing guard above the Old Town. From here, you may take a short walk or gondola ride to the castle, which provides 360 views over the city. 

    • You may also choose to soothe your aching limbs in the ancient sulfur baths in the region.

    Overnight in a hotel in Tbilisi.

  • Day 8: Transfer to Tbilisi international airport expand_more
