Drive from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda and start the trek to the summit of Mount Kazbek from the village of Gveleti. Take in breathtaking views of the Kazbegi National Park as you trek through the gorgeous Dariali Gorge and visit the stunning Gveleti Waterfall. At last, relish in the magnificent view from the Meteo Station and the Summit.

  • Day 1- Tbilisi to Stepantsminda expand_more

    • Morning transfer from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda (1,882 meters).

    • Proceed to the village of Gveleti through the beautiful Dariali Gorge, after which it’s a short trek up a footpath to the Gveleti Waterfall. It is at a distance of 7 km from Stepantsminda. Gveleti means "place of snakes" in Georgian. So, watch your step.

    Overnight stay in a guest house in Stepantsminda (lunch and dinner included).

  • Day 2- Trek to Meteo Station expand_more

    • Following an early home-cooked breakfast, get ready for a vehicle transfer to Gergeti Trinity Church (2,150 meters), from where the trek to Meteo Station begins. As the trek begins, there's a steep climb until we reach a ridgeline that continues up to the mountain, eventually leading to a glacier (5-hour trek).

    • Once at the Meteo Station, relax and enjoy the views.

    Overnight stay in Meteo Station (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

  • Day 3- Acclimatisation trek expand_more

    • Today, we start with a short but strenuous trek to a small church located at an elevation of 3,930 meters. This 2-hour trek will help you in acclimatisation.

    • Enjoy the scenic views of the snow-capped mountains and click as many pictures as you want.

    • Return to Meteo station for an overnight stay (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

  • Day 4- Reserve day expand_more

    • Reserve day in case of bad weather conditions.

    • If good weather conditions prevail, today will be the summit day. So, consume an adequate amount of carbs and be prepared for a very early start at around 02:00 am. The guide will assess the weather conditions for attempting the summit. However, if the guide decides that the weather conditions are unfavourable, the schedule will be postponed to the next day.

    • Overnight stay in Meteo station (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

  • Day 5- Summit day expand_more

    • If the guide gives the go-ahead, start the trek in the wee hours today (trek distance and duration - 9 km, 11 hours).

    Overnight stay in Stepanstminda/Meteo Station (breakfast, lunch and dinner). 

  • Day 6- Departure expand_more

    • Have breakfast and then check out as now it's time to get transferred to Tbilisi.
