We stop here a few times to take your memorable pictures on picturesque views. Then we go to Secret Bear Shelter to acquaint closer with these amazing animals and to find out more interesting facts about them. Of course, you get stunning pictures too. Finally we reach the impressive monument Chronicles of Georgia, which is constructed from 35-meter bronze pillars. From any corner you look on it the first you see is giant cross. This is a modern monument; however, it is a breathtaking place with the voices and souls of our ancestors, which with its secret power, makes visitors be silent and be respectful of what they see.

  • Bear Shelter expand_more

The official name of this place is Zoological Centre for Bears. It was established in 2010. This story started when the shelter’s founder brought a bear cub named Balu from West Georgia to Tbilisi at the request of his friends. Balu’s mother had been killed but he was spared.

Mr Jikurishvili (shelter founder) had planned to hand over the cub to the care of the zoo or to ask for help from state structures. The cub weighed just 1 kilogram at that moment, so there was no idea what to do with the bear. Bear lived in his home for some time, as government agencies did not provide any assistance, and the zoo refused to accept him.

When Balu began to grow up, Jikurishvili decided to create a shelter for him and other bears in need of help.

Meantime, the shelter occupies a space of 5,000 square meters, and 18 bears are living here.

  • Monument Chronicles of Georgia expand_more

The "Chronicle of Georgia" (or History Memorial of Georgia) is a monument located near the Tbilisi Sea.  It was built by known worldwide georgian-Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli in 1985. The 16 pillars it consists of are between 30–35 meters tall, the top half featuring kings, queens, and heroes while the bottom part depicts stories from the life of Christ. There is a grapevine cross of St. Nino and a chapel.
