  • Day 3: Gudauri - Akhaltcikhe - Vardzia - Borjomi expand_more

Set off on a tour of the following sites with your Georgian tour guide:

    • Visit Akhaltsikhe' Rabati - a medieval fortress that was constructed here in the 9th century in accordance with Georgian Chronicles. During the period of the 13th -14th centuries, it was the capital city of the Samtskhe region (South Part of Georgia). That time it was ruled by the Georgian princely family and dynasty, the House of Jaqeli. Its history lives through numerous attacks and wars.

    • Explore Vardzia, a very interesting cave monastery construction in the second half of the twelfth century. The caves stretch along the cliff for some five hundred meters and in up to nineteen tiers. This amazing location is a memory of the Georgian golden age, governed by legendary King Tamar.

    • Lastly, go to Borjomi - a famous worldwide balneological resort situated in the picturesque Borjomi Gorge. The town was noted because of healing features of its mineral waters in 19th century. It is widely used for both drinking and therapeutic baths.

  • Day 4: Borjomi Park – Kutaisi expand_more
    • Start in the morning as you walk in the Borjomi Park and taste fresh mineral water.
    • Have a city tour in Kutaisi (auto + walking).
  • Day 5: Kutaisi - Prometheus Caves - Mestia expand_more
    • Leave Kutaisi to get to Svanetia.

    • En route, see picturesque and interesting sights before visiting Prometheus Cave Natural Monument. It is located in the Imereti region. The total length of the cave is about 11 km, of which 1060m are open to visitors. The cave is located 40 meters below sea level. The tourist route is 1 hour and it passes through Argonauts Hall, Kolkheti Hall, Medea Hall, Love Hall, Prometheus Hall and Iberia Hall.

    • Reach the beginning of Enguri gorge and stop at a breathtaking viewpoint of Enguri Dam. The Enguri Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Enguri River. Currently, it is the world's second-highest concrete arch dam with a height of 271.5 metres.

    • Get to Metsia city with its magic Towers.

  • Day 6: Mestia - Ushguli - Mestia expand_more
    • Explore Mestia's surroundings and sightsee areas on a jeep tour.

    • Reach Ushguli, which is the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe.

  • Day 7: Mestia - Chalaadi glacier - Mestia - Okatse Canyon – Kutaisi expand_more
    • Wake up early to hike to Chalaadi Glacier. It is an excellent opportunity to explore the valley of the Mestiachala river. The Chalaadi river is an influx of Mestachala.

    • Start from the bridge checkpoint. It is an easy hiking track that takes approximately 3 hours.

    • Go up through the pine forest, then continue by the stony and rocky gorge covered by the glacier.

    • Reach the footsteps of the Chalaadi glacier and take a break to assure your safety. Getting too close to the glacier is unsafe because stone falls and landslides are a norm there.

    • Move to the next attraction, Okatse Canyon Natural Monument in the Imereti region. Okatse Canyon offers guests a 2-3 hour pedestrian route that passes through Dadiani historical forest and, in the end, a 780 m length hanging trail that finishes with a panoramic view. The trail is about 50m above the canyon, so it's an exciting attraction for those who are not afraid of heights.

    • Return to Kutaisi.

Please note that hiking to Chalaadi Glacier is seasonal (mostly summer and the beginning of autumn). For other seasons, this part of the tour is changed on an equally entertaining jeep tour in Mestia.

  • Day 8: Kutaisi - Mtskheta - Tbilisi expand_more
    • Leave Kutaisi to get back to Tbilisi.

    • Stop in the ancient Mtskheta. This is one of the oldest cities and former capital of Georgia, and it has several significant historical monuments which, since 1994, have become UNESCO heritage sites.

  • Day 9: Telavi - Gremi - Kvareli - Tbilisi expand_more

    • Start the tour at Telavi, which is the main city of East Georgia. It is located at the footsteps of Gombori Gorge in the south part of impressive Alazany Valey, which could be seen from most places in Tel and as Greater Caucasus Mountain Range. The city itself and its close locations have a number of archaeological sights and historical places: 3 types of fortresses, ancient churches and cathedrals.

    • Visit Batonis Tcikhe castle and its museum.

    • Proceed to the next location on your Agenda - Gremi Fortress. King Levan Kekhetian built the city in the 16th century and he announced this town as a capital of Kakheti. King Levan peacefully governed the region. Gremi reached economical prosperity with a population of up to 100,000 people. Visit the complex, listen to more stories about its days of welfare and take several good photos from its viewpoint.

    • Get acquainted with the Georgian wine region. It is Kakheti, where almost 75% of Georgian wines are produced. Taste wines at two wineries in the Kvareli region. The area is unique as it is an appellation for wine Kindzmarauli.
