Day 1: To Machame Hut expand_more
Hike to Machame Hut for about 5 hours through the forest.

Day 2: To Shira Camp expand_more
This day is steep but involves short hiking and a bit of scrambling for 5 hours up to Shira Camp

Day 3: To Barranco expand_more
Hike to 15,000 feet, and then down to Barranco Camp at 13,100 feet (6 hours).

Day 4: Acclimatisation Day expand_more
Take a hike and learn about high altitude plant adaptations in Barranco.

Day 5: To Karanga expand_more
In the morning, scramble along the Barranco wall.
Takes about 4 hours to Karanga at 13,400 feet.

Day 6: Short Hike to Barafu Camp expand_more
Get to Barafu camp early.
Sleep early, and wake up at 12:00 am for the summit attempt.

Day 7: Summit to Mweka Camp expand_more
After the summit, descend to Barafu for brunch.
After brunch, hike to Mweka Camp. This will be a long day.

Day 8: Back to Arusha expand_more
Hike for 3 hrs to Mweka Gate.
From the gate, say goodbye to the porters, then drive to Arusha.
