Trek to the summit of Mount Kenya on this 5-day tour; it is the second-highest snowcapped mountain in Africa. Pass through the moorland, viewing high-attitude flowers, animals and birds to Shipton Camp 4200m. Reach the summit of Lenana (4,985m), the third peak in Mt. Kenya, to catch the sunrise. Descend through a scenic trail on the Chogoria route, viewing the fascinating Gorges Valley to Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas camp (2,950m).

Day 1: Nairobi to Old Moses Camp (3300m) expand_more
- Pick up from the airport and, if time allows, drive from Nairobi through central Kenya towards Nyeri with a nice view of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdares ranges in the clear evening.
- Have a brief stopover at the Equator near Nanyuki, the base town, where the other team of porters will be picked up and proceed to Sirimon Park gate (2650m).
- After clearing with the park authority, start the hike through the forest accompanied by the guides, cooks and porters to Old Moses Camp 3300m. (3-4 hrs. walk).

Day 2: Old Moses to Shipton Camp (4200m) expand_more
- After breakfast, hike through the moorland, viewing high-attitude flowers, animals and birds to Shipton Camp (4200m) (6-7 hrs walk pole).

Day 3: Acclimatization Day expand_more
- After breakfast, take an exploration hike around the peaks ascending to 4600m, where turn lakes and permanent glaciers make the source of the most prominent rivers in Kenya.
- Arrive at Mackinder's Camp (4300m) for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Mackider's - Peak Lenana to Bandas Camp expand_more
- This will be the longest day on the trip. Take an early morning tea, and at around 2.30 am, start climbing along a loose scree, which is covered with snow sometimes during the year, with a short rest at the Austrian hut (4790m). and then continue with the climb to reach the summit of Lenana (4,985m) (4hrs), the third peak in Mt. Kenya, to catch the sunrise. After a superb view from the summit as far as Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south, descend to Mintos camp (3 hrs) to the Eastern side of the peaks, where you will meet with your cooks and porters for breakfast.
- After breakfast, descend through a scenic trail on the Chogoria route, viewing the fascinating Gorges Valley to Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas camp (2,950m) for a hot shower, dinner and overnight stay (6 hrs).
- Lunch will be served en route. (Total 12 -15hrs).

Day 5: Chogoria to Nairobi expand_more
- After breakfast, descend for 2 hrs through the rain forest to connect your transfer of the mountain to Chogoria village.
- Later, drive back to Nairobi and return to Nanyuki, arriving in the evening.

What to bring
The following is the list of equipment you have to bring with you or hire locally:
A sleeping bag, a rucksack, a small day pack, a pair of hiking boots and light trainers shoes, a head torch, a warm jacket, a Balaclava (woollen hat), several pairs of warm socks, a pair of gloves, a rain jacket (poncho) and a pair of waterproof trousers, fleeces or warm sweaters, 2 litres reusable water bottle or (CamelBak), walking sticks, gaiters, light toiletry articles, hand sanitisers, water purifying tablets, snacks and other personal items.
