Description

Go on a 2-day tour and visit the southern and the central part of Ethiopia to see the prehistoric archeological site of Melka Kunture. Stop by Tia Stella, Lake Ziway,  Abiyata Shalla park. Experience nature, wildlife and have a chance to spot flamingos on the shores of the lakes.

  • Day 1 : Melka Kunture, Tia Stella & Ziway town expand_more
    • Meet the Tour guide either from the airport or hotel.
    • After breakfast, drive southwest of Addis Ababa to Melka Kunture, a prehistoric archeological site. See the excavation site, the fossils, stone tools (Obsidian), and other findings in the museum.
    • Drive to Tia Stella (grave marker) one of the world heritage registered by UNESCO in 1980 E.C. 
    • Stop for a lunch break in Butajira town. 
    • Head to Ziway town (named after the lake). Spot the birds on the shore like Marabu stork, Pelikans, Hammer Kop, Ibis, Heroins, Igrits, Egyptian Geez, Duck and etc.
    • Continue to langanoo lake (golden lake) and enjoy a swim in the only swimmable lake of Ethiopia.

    Overnight in Langanoo.

  • Day 2 : Abiyata Shalla & Bishoftu town expand_more
    • Drive from langanoo to Abiyata Shalla, to see wild animals like Ostriches, Gazelles, Kudus, warthogs, and Anubis baboons. 
    • Visit the hot springs which the local communities used for medicinal purpose, and sometimes people boil eggs in the hot springs. 
    • Head to the two lakes (Abiyata and Shalla) and spot some Flamingos.
    • Return to Addis Ababa and on the way, stop over to see the traditional way of making coffee, either in Koka town (named after the lake) or Bishoftu (named after the lake).
    • Stopover in Bishoftu town to visit one of the crater lakes and also see the local activities of the Oromiya people.
    • Arrive in Addis Ababa.
