  • Day 1: Arrival to Bale Mountains expand_more
    • Arrive at the park headquarters, meet your guide and discuss the plan. 
    • In time for a leisurely afternoon hike, possibly spotting two endemic mammals frequently seen in the area: Menelik’s Bushbuck and the Mountain Nyala. Birds in this area include the Blue-Winged Goose, the Spot-Breasted Lapwing, the Abyssinian Long Claw, the Wattled Ibis, the Black-Headed Siskin, the Rouget’s Rail, and numerous other species.

  • Day 2: Trek to Adelay expand_more
    • On this day, you will start the hike from Dinsho to the woodland part of the national park. 
    • You will have a chance to spot endemic birds and mammals of Ethiopia. Admire the stunning natural beauty of the Bale Mountains. 

    5-6 hours walk 18 km

    Overnight camping. 3,400 masl.

  • Day 3: Trek to Sodota expand_more
    • Start hiking from Adelay and enter the national park. While trekking through the park, you will have a chance to see the rarest canid, the Ethiopian Wolf, Rock Hyrax, Giant Mole Rat, and most birds of prey. 
    • Stop by Habera waterfall for a nice break, then head to Sodota campsite.

    6-7 hours walk  20km

    Overnight 3,500masl. 

  • Day 4: Trek to Wasema expand_more
    • Trek to Wasema through a beautiful landscape with stunning views.
    • Pass through Mararo Valley, where the lammergeyer and Verraux Eagles keep nests. There will also be a chance to spot the Ethiopian Wolf and other species of birds. 

    5-6 hours walk 18 km

    Overnight Camping 3,900masl.

  • Day 5: Trek to Rafu expand_more
    • Today, you will be walking through a beautiful landscape. Near Rafu, enjoy a panoramic view of Rafu Rock pillars caused by volcanic lava flow.

    Overnight Camping 4,000masl.

  • Day 6: Trek to Sannetti expand_more
    • The morning after breakfast, start the hike and pass through the second highest point of Ethiopia, called Tulu Demtu (4377m asl), which will be windy as it covers all weather of Africa because it elevates over 4000 m asl—a chance to see the Starcks Hare, Endemic Gaint mole-rat, water birds, etc. 
    • Finally, meet the vehicle and drive back to Goba Town Overnight.

    • After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Addis.
