  • Day 1 : China (Beijing/Shanghai/Chengdu)--Lhasa expand_more
    • Land at the Lhasa Airport. Meet the tour guide who will pick you up from Lhasa and transfer you to the hotel.
    • Check in to the hotel and spend your free time at your leisure.
  • Day 2: Lhasa Sightseeing - Potala Palace - Jokhang temple - Barkhor expand_more
    • Visit the Potala Palace after breakfast at the hotel. Located in the centre of Lhasa city, this building was constructed by Tibetan king Songtsan Gampo. 
    • In the afternoon, go to the Jokhang Temple. The Jokhang Temple was built in the 7-century under Tibetan king Songtsan Gampo and Wenchen princess. 
    • Follow the guide to the Kora road and enjoy exploring Bakhor street. Roam around a traditional Tibetan market.

    Overnight at Lhasa

  • Day 3: Drepung & Sera Monastery - Norbulinka expand_more
    • After breakfast in the hotel, visit the Drepung Monastery. The Drepung monastery is located at the foot of Mount Gephel and the west part of Lhasa city. Take a closer look at the Buddhist monks in the debate garden.
    • Go to the Norbulinka, located 2 km far from Potala Palace. 
  • Day 4: Lhasa-Yamdrok-tso--Gyantse-Shigatse expand_more
    • After breakfast in the hotel, depart from Lhasa to Shigatse. En-route cross the Gangbala pass (4790m). Reach the top of the pass to appreciate a turquoise lake. 
    • Continue heading towards Gyantse, in the way view the Karo-La glacier(52100). 
    • Reach the Gyantse and visit the Pelkor Choden Monastery and Kumbum Stupa. 
    • Drive to Shigatse (2hours). 

    Overnight at Shigatse 

  • Day 5: Shigatse-Rongbuk-Everest Base Camp expand_more
    • Depart from Shigatse after breakfast. Drive along with the Friendship Highway to Rongbuk Monastery. On the way, cross the Gyatso La pass (5200m) and Gyawu-La pass (5200). Reach the top of Gyawu-La pass and stop for a few minutes to view Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. 
    • Continue the drive along the winding road to Rongbuk. Upon arrival, check-in at a Rongbuk guest house. 

    Overnight at Rongbuk Monastery

  • Day 6: Rongbuk-Everest Base Camp expand_more
    • After breakfast, take a short hike from Rongbuk Monastery to Everest Base Camp. Reach the base camp. 
    • Drive back to Shigatse for an overnight stay.
  • Day 8: Shigatse to Lhasa expand_more
    • After breakfast in the hotel, meet our guide in your hotel lobby. 
    • Visit the Tashilunpo monastery. This monastery was located on the south slope of Nyimar Hill. It was founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama Dendun Drupa (8th disciple of the Tsongkapa), the largest monastery in the Tsang area.
  • Day 8: Departure expand_more
    • After breakfast in the hotel, meet our tour guide and driver in the hotel lobby. Transfer to Lhasa airport.

Know before you go
  • In Tibet, according to government regulation, exception the Hong Kong and Macau traveller. All foreign tourist who travels to Tibet must obtain a travel permit before entry to Tibet. Without a travel permit, you cannot buy a flight or train ticket to travel to Tibet. Therefore, before you plan to travel to Tibet, you should contact a local travel agency to arrange a tour for you that includes the Tibet tour permits. Only the local agency will help you apply for the Tibet tour permit from the Tibet tourist bureau. 
  • To obtain a permit, you need to send your passport and valid Chinese visa copy by fax or E-mail to us at least 2 weeks before your departure. With this, you also need to provide us with your detailed information as follows.

  • Suppose you are beginning the tour from China to entering Tibet. You need to send a valid passport, including a standard Chinese entering visa copy, by E-mail to us at least 15 days before your departure. Your passport must have a minimum validity remaining of six months. 
  • This and your Chinese visa should be valid for the length of time you intend to remain in China (including Tibet). The “L” Visa is easy to obtain. Meanwhile, business visa “F”, resident visa “D”, Student visa “X” or work visa “Z”, these types can obtain the Tibet permit. Still, you need to provide a certified letter from your china business partner or related units as school or company. When we receive your detailed information, our tour operator will make an application text and group list to apply for the permit for you in 5 workdays from the Tibet tourist bureau.
  • Journalists cannot obtain the Tibet tour permit from any local travel agency.
  • For the permits situation, there are four different permits needed to travel in Tibet Autonomous Region. 
    • The Tibet tour permit
    • Alien travel permit
    • Military permit 
    • Foreign affair office permit 
  • The Tibet tour permit is required for entry in Tibet when you want to issue the air ticket, train ticket or bus ticket from the main gateway cities to Tibet. Without this, you cannot obtain an air ticket or train ticket to Tibet. In addition, the alien's permit is required to travel to the non-opened area as Tsetang, Samye monastery, Gyantse, Sakya monastery; Mt Everest area, and another close part in Tibet. This permit was be obtained from Public Security Bureau(PSB); The military and foreign affair permit is required the remoter area as southeast Tibet Kham and far northwest Tibet as Mt.Kailash and Guge with Jantang area; The our tour operator will apply for all permits on your behalf. To do this, you need to provide us with your information as a clear legible copy of your passport and valid Chinese visa to us via fax or email at least 3 weeks before your departure. We will obtain these special permits for you from this office, and When you are booking a Tibet tour with our tour operator, we will arrange all the necessary permits for you.
  • About Tibet tour permit and visa:
    • For all foreign traveller, Before travelling to Tibet, you must need contact a travel agency has to arrange the Tibet tour permit before your departure. To apply for the Tibet permit, you first need to provide a valid passport for at least 6 months, and a valid Chinese visa is essential. If without these documents. The tourist bureau will refuse to issue the Tibet permit for the foreign traveller to Tibet.
  • Chinese Visa :
    • The Chinese visa is generally obtainable from most Chinese Embassies and consulates in your home country. And most Chinese embassies and consulates will issue a standard 30-day single-entry tourist visa for you in 3-5 working days. 
    • The visa fees vary according to how much your country charges Chinese citizens for a visa. When you go to the Chinese embassy visa application form asks you a lot of questions. Do not list your occupation as a journalist and do not mention bicycles. 
    • If you are beginning the trip from china side to enter Tibet, you will require a single china visa valid for the whole length of time you intend to remain in china (include during Tibet ). Such visa can be obtained from the Chinese embassy or consulate in your home country or Hong Kong.
    • If you begin the tour from Nepal to enter Tibet, It is better not to apply for any individual Chinese visa in your country, Because you arrived in Kathmandu. You need to join a group in Tibet with a group visa. The Chinese embassy will first cancel your former individual visa then issued a group visa for you. So do not apply for a Chinese visa until you reach Kathmandu and avoid wasting money; to get a Chinese visa in Kathmandu, please send us your clear passport copy and other details like your profession at least 15 days in advance. When we get this detailed information, our tour operator team will apply for the visa invitation letter. Tibet entered a permit from Tibet tourist Bureau when we obtained these supporting documents from the Tibet tourist bureau. We will send it by E-mail to our partner agent in Kathmandu. 
    • To apply for the group visa for your travel to Tibet, We need to provide your original passport to the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu. For this case, we advised you arrive in Kathmandu at least 2-3days before Tibet departure. 
    • Our Nepal partner agent tour operator will take these documents with your original passport and go to the Kathmandu Chinese embassy to apply for the Chinese group visa. The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu issues visas on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only, so you must plan your itinerary to allow for this.
  • Very important: The visa days in the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu is Monday, Wednesday and Friday ( and visa can be collected the same day upon payment of urgent fees – USD 114 for European passports and USD 198 for US passports ). To waste your time in Kathmandu, make it such that you arrive in Kathmandu either Sunday or Tuesday or Thursday so that you can get a visa the next day and fly to Tibet the day after. (Except in the main season, the flights to Lhasa from Kathmandu are generally operated on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings and almost always get packed)
  • Note: Do not trust a travel agency that offers to sell you a Tibet travel permit without requiring you to book a tour. No legitimate travel agency will offer a "permit-only" service. Avoid wasting your money, as this is almost certainly a scam. Lhasa PSB will not issue travel permits to individuals and will direct you to a travel agency. Agencies can arrange a travel permit to almost anywhere but only if you book a Land Cruiser, driver and a guide.
