Sign up for a trip that will take you deep into Bengali culture. On this tour, you will get to taste the food as well as the traditional places of old Dhaka and how people live in the southern swamps. Experience the forest climate, which is the world's largest mangrove forest, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, spotted deer, monkeys, crocodiles and dolphins. Staying in a village house for three days allows you to dive deeper into this culture!

  • Day 1- Arrive in Dhaka expand_more
    • Meet the tour guide upon arrival in Dhaka. 
    • After meeting, greeting, and checking into the hotel, go for money changing with a short city tour. 

    Overnight in Dhaka at Fars Hotel and Resort.

  • Day 2- Witness the landmarks in Dhaka expand_more
    • In the morning, drive down to the old part of the city to visit the Mosque of Khaja Shajbaz, Dakeswari Temple, and Lalbag Fort.
    • Then move back in the direction of Sadar Ghat. 
    • Stop at a local restaurant for lunch, then move to Shangkharia Bazaar/Hindu Street. 
    • Walk down to Ahsan Monjil (Pink Palace) to Sadar Ghat. 
    • Transfer the luggage to the ship to go to Boitha Kata. 

    Overnight in the ship cabin (only common toilet). 

    (A one-hour drive from the hotel to the starting point of the sightseeing point.)

  • Day 3- Visit a floating market and Swarup Kathi expand_more
    • Have breakfast in a local restaurant, and jump onto a small boat to move into the floating market where farmers are selling their products to buyers. 
    • After having lunch in the boatman's house, visit Swarup Kathi. 
    • Late afternoon, transfer to Barishal town by microbus. 

    Overnight in Barishal at Hotel Grand Park.

  • Day 4- Morelgonj to Mongla (2-hour distance) expand_more
    • Early in the morning, catch the ship to go to Morelgonj. We'll have lunch and breakfast on the ship. 
    • After lunch, the ship will stop at Morelgonj. Then transfer to the opposite side of the river to drive down to Mongla. 
    • After arriving at Mongla, board the boat for the Sundarban excursion.

  • Day 5- Exploring Sundarban expand_more
    • It's a tidal area, so our every move will depend on high/low tide. Very early in the morning, during the last moment of high tide, our boat will start to move towards the end of Sundarban. 
    • We'll land at Dublar Char to meet with the fishermen. 
    • After meeting and greeting the fishermen, our boat will move into the forest. We'll anchor at Tinkona Island overnight.

  • Day 6- Full-day on boat expand_more
    • Early in the morning, we'll jump onto a small boat to move into the narrow channel to go closer to the forest. After boating for an hour into the narrow channel, we'll go back to our big boat to continue to Kotka, a 7-8 hour boat ride. 

    Overnight in the boat of Sundarban.

  • Day 7- Trekking in the Jamtola and boat ride in Mongla expand_more
    • Early in the morning, go trekking in the Jamtola area of the forest. 
    • After trekking, return to the boat to head back to Mongla. 

    Overnight in the boat at the Mongla boat station.

  • Day 8- Mongla to Khulna expand_more
    • After breakfast, drive down to Bagerhat to visit the more than 550-year-old 60 DOM mosque. 
    • Then drive down to the Kodela tomb. After visiting the Kodela tomb, drive to Fakirhat for a late lunch. 
    • After lunch, drive down to Khulna. 

    Overnight in Khulna at Hotel Tiger Garden or similar. 

    (Mongla to Khulna is a one-hour drive, but it will take a couple of hours for us because of sightseeing.)

  • Day 9- Khulna to Majhbari (4-hour drive) expand_more
    • Drive down to Majhbari. If time permits, visit a brick factory. 

    Overnight in Majhbari at Titu's home.

  • Day 10: Day in Majhbhari expand_more
    • Visit the surrounding area of Majhbari to meet with farmers, weavers, potters, and bamboo craftsmen. 

    Overnight in Majhbari at Titu's home.

  • Day 11- Another Day in Majhbhari expand_more
    • Spend another day and explore more in Majhbari.

  • Day 12- Drive to Dhaka from Majhbari expand_more
    • In the morning, start back to Dhaka. Today, we'll cross the most important river of Bangladesh at Daulotdia-Paturia point by ferry with our car, where the Padma (Ganges) and Jamuna (Brahmaputra) rivers meet to flow into the Bay of Bengal. 
    • After lunch, visit Dhamrai for authentic metal crafts. 

    Overnight in Dhaka at Hotel Marino or similar.

  • Day 13- Day of departure expand_more
    • Early in the morning, visit Kawran Bazar, the "biggest wholesale vegetable market in Dhaka." 
    • After lunch, free time for shopping in Uttara.
