    • Sarajevo City Hall is the most beautiful Austro-Hungarian-era building. From 1949, the building became the National Library. The building now houses the national and university libraries, the city council, and a museum.

    • Baščaršija is an old city constructed in the 15th century during the Ottoman period.

    • Sebilj, a wooden fountain located at the Baščaršija square.

    • Old Orthodox Church is a Serbian Orthodox church in Sarajevo. It was first mentioned in Ottoman sources dating to 1539; the Church was, however, built on an older foundation.

    • Latin Quarter Jewish community in Sarajevo exists for almost five centuries. Do you know that in Sarajevo, there was no ghetto for Jews? The old Jewish temple is located in Old Town.

    • The oldest and biggest mosque in Sarajevo is known as the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque.

The memorial was dedicated on 6 April 1946, the first anniversary of the liberation of Sarajevo from the four-year-long occupation by Nazi Germany and the fascist Independent State of Croatia. Only during the Siege of Sarajevo 1992-95, the flame was not burning.
