Explore the Tepelene fortress, built by Ali Pasha Tepelena, visited by many notable people of the time, among them the British Poet Lord Byron. Continue to Gjirokaster, located in a valley between the wide mountains and the Drino river valley and see the “pass of the bazaar”, as the locals call it, which is the heart of the old town with a lot of art, crafts and handmade souvenirs shops, lovely little taverns and restaurants.
