Ireland has a bloody and violent history. The bloodshed ended in the Irish Republic with the signing of the 'treaty' with the British in 1922, at the end of a particularly bloody and brutal guerrilla war against the forces of the British Crown. There was further bloodshed in the civil war that followed the signing of the treaty, but peace was established in 1923. The struggle continued in the northern part of the island up to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and the beginning of the peace process in 1999. This tour will elaborate on these subjects, with reference to the many historical events that define the Irish struggle against British rule in Ireland.

  1. Revolution in Ireland - a brief history
  2. Irish republicanism explained
  3. The colonisation of Ireland over eight centuries
  4. 1916 - the beginning of the separation
  5. 1922 - 1939 the fledgling Irish state
  6. 1919 - 1922 the War of Independence
