Medina Discovery
Begin your tour with a walk through one of the most interesting quarters of Marrakech. Stroll along labyrinthine alleyways, catching glimpses of mosques, hammams, traditional public bakeries, fondouks (old lodging houses used by caravans), and fountains carved in wood and decorated with inscriptions. Visit the principal attractions, beginning with the 14th century Ben Youssef Madrasa.
Continue to the nearby 12th century Kubba El Baroudyine, noted for its beautiful dome, which is the last surviving example of Almoravid art in Marrakech.
Menebhi Palace & Souks
Proceed to visit the nearby 19th century Menebhi Palace, owned by a Moroccan vizier and built in the pure Moroccan urban architectural style of the period.
Continue on foot through the colourful souks, which are classified according to the goods sold and where you can see craftsmen practicing their traditional art.
Djemma el Fna Square
Emerge onto the lively Djemma el Fna Square. Mingle with the popular entertainers, musicians, acrobats, snake charmers, storytellers, and water sellers on your way up to one of the terraces overlooking the antics of the square.
The Koutoubia Mosque & Gardens
Stop by the largest mosque in Marrakech, Morocco. The minaret was completed under the reign of the Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184-1199) and was used as the model for the Giralda of Seville and the Hassan Tower of Rabat.
El Bahia Palace
Visit El Bahia Palace in Marrakech, a beautiful building and an excellent example of 19th century Eastern architecture that represents the trends and standards of the wealthy who lived at that time.
The Saadian Tombs
Explore the Saadian Tombs in Marrakech, which date back to the time of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur (1578-1603). The tombs were only recently discovered in 1917 and were restored by the Beaux-Arts service.
The Jewish Mellah
Head to the Jewish Mellah. Founded in 1558 by Moulay Abdallah, the Mellah district was designated as the Jewish quarter in Marrakech.
