3-Day Marrakech Desert Tour with Dades Canyon and Merzouga

• Make an early morning departure from Marrakech to cross the Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains, with a short stop for coffee and a visit to the argan oil cooperative.

• Stop for lunch at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ksar Aït Ben Haddou, the most famous ksar in Morocco.

• After lunch, continue through the Skoura Oasis, where numerous ancient kasbahs stand among the palm trees.

• From here, the route takes you through Kela'a M'gouna, the Valley of Roses, with a stop to see cosmetics locally made from the valley's abundant roses.

• Continue to Dades Canyon, where you will stay overnight in a hotel by the river.

• After breakfast, start the day by driving through Dades Canyon back to Boumalne Dades Village, then continue to Toudgha and its very different gorges, which rise to an altitude of more than 700 meters.

• Have lunch in the small village of Turoug.

• After lunch, drive via the Oasis of Tafilalet, Erfoud, and Rissani to the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi. After a welcoming glass of tea in a guest house near the dunes, depart by camel.

• Reach the bivouac and take a camel ride to watch the sunset from the top of the dunes.

• Back at the bivouac, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in desert tents for an unforgettable night.

• Wake up early enough to watch the spectacle of the sunrise, when the color of the dunes and the play of shadows create an awesome sight.

• Visit the exotic market of Rissani, the first imperial city in Morocco and the largest market in southern Morocco.

• Continue through the Draa Valley, home to the longest river in Morocco, lined with small villages and hidden kasbahs.

• Stop to admire the fabulous landscape and original geological formations. Then cross the High Atlas once again to arrive in Marrakech in the evening.

• Drop off at your accommodation.
