Day by day

The itinerary

Day 01

Marrakech to Imlil and Tizi Mzik Acclimatization Hike

You will be picked up from your Marrakech lodging on the first day and driven toward the High Atlas Mountains. The drive to Imlil Valley, where the trek begins, takes about one and a half hours. Our local team will meet you on arrival.
After that, you will be taken to a guesthouse, where you can enjoy complimentary mint tea and look over a map of our 4-day Toubkal trek. Later, you will set out on an acclimatization hike to Tizi Mzik Pass at 2489 m, where you will stop for a cook-prepared lunch.
After the lunch break, you will return by the same route and spend the night at your lodge in Imlil. The walk will take about 4 hours.

Day 02

Ait Mizane Valley Trek to Toubkal Refuge

The following morning, after breakfast at your lodging, you will begin your trek along the Ait Mizane Valley. Before reaching the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts both tourists and pilgrims, you will first travel to the village of Aremd. Only Muslims are allowed to cross the stone bridge to visit the marabout shrine itself. The village is a chaotic collection of houses that blends into a dense mass beside a small waterfall.
You will eventually stop for lunch. The trail then continues to ascend steadily, zigzagging and winding its way up to the Toubkal Refuge at 3206 m, where you will spend the night. The walk will take 5 to 6 hours.

Day 03

Summit Attempt on Jebel Toubkal

After a leisurely breakfast, you will attempt to reach the summit of Jebel Toubkal. Your route ascends the South Cirque, crosses the stream above the refuge, and then traverses one of the mountain's many scree fields. In places, the going can be quite difficult because of the scree and altitude, although the walking itself is fairly straightforward. The scenery along the way, however, more than justifies the effort.
Once you reach the summit, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the High Atlas Mountains.
After a brief break on the pass, you will return to the refuge by the same route, where you will have lunch and spend another night. The walk will take 6 to 7 hours.

Day 04

Return to Imlil and Transfer to Marrakech

You will return to Imlil Valley by the same route. Before being transferred back to Marrakech, you will have lunch in Imlil. The walk and the drive to Marrakech will each take about 4 to 5 hours.
